Dr. Murphy has been a subspecialist in interventional cardiology and echocardiography since 2013. He comes to Golden State Heart & Vascular from Sutter Memorial Hospital and Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, CA.

After completing a BASc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, Dr. Murphy obtained his MD at the University of Toronto, where he received the Medical Society Honor Award and Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award. He went on to complete both his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He was designated the Chief Cardiology Fellow in Adult Cardiology at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Dr. Murphy went on to complete a subspecialization in Interventional Cardiology and Echocardiography at the Montreal Heart Institute, Montreal, Canada. He also earned a Certification in Technology Commercialization at the School of Business, Stanford University. Dr. Murphy served as CEO of Openxmed, a medical technology startup developing decision-making algorithms for physicians.

Dr. Murphy is bilingual in English and French and is an active volunteer cardiology field consultant with Doctors Without Borders.
